Summer Fun…

Of course it’s summer here all year round but we still think of the holidays as being summer holidays…

Brynne really wanted to have a party with her friends before we left so last week we had a tea party and they all came dressed up and enjoyed tea and brownies before making a craft and then they finished off the morning with ice cream.

Last week Monday was a red-letter day so Hugo pulled out one of our tarps and soaped it up and the kids had a grand time slip’n sliding with their neighbourhood friends.

We had a bbq with friends that same evening.  Hamburgers…  yum!  Not an easy meal here though…  Had to make the burgers, buns, and mayo from scratch.  But man, they were good!!!

About a week before he left, Hugo finished his motorbike.  It’s about 7 years old and needed a new back brake and some other parts which he ended up needing to order from Jakarta.  It’s hard to get spare parts for his bike here because it’s the same model that the police ride.  Since he had to take it apart to repair it, he decided to paint it right away as it was getting a bit rusty.  So with the help of one of his Papuan workers, they got it done.  We called it the bumblebee…

Hugo is now in Wichita for his course.  It’s a caravan safety course for maintenance engineers.  He’ll get a lovely certificate at the end.  I’m finishing off what needs to be done before we leave for Canada.  Thankfully, that’s not too much!  We are super ready to see Canada again!  (and go shopping…  ;-0)
