Marc is 9!

Last week Saturday Marc celebrated his 9th birthday.  As we’ve done for the past number of years, we did a combined party with his buddy S who’s birthday is just a few days later.  S is in grade 4 and Marc in grade 3 so we invited all the boys from both grades.  They started out with a super cool treasure hunt (made by S’s parents) and we had planned some soccer but it was such a hot day that we ended up playing with water.  We had gotten Marc a compound bow (brought from the homeland) and that also provided some fun when we hung balloons on bushes.

We are so thankful for our red-headed boy (our only child to be born here).  He is such an easy going boy who is happy to play with nearly anyone!  He did not however, eat his chocolate cupcake as he doesn’t like chocolate….  or ice cream…

On the Friday before Marc’s birthday, it was parents vs. students night at the school.  The current sport is futsal.  Hugo played against Christiaan’s class and I played against Mikah’s team, the JV girls.  As I was playing against the girls I didn’t get a photo of the men and boys teams.  It was a lot of fun!  The boys beat the men and us ladies managed to beat the girls.  I scored a goal on Mikah!

Happy 9th birthday Marc! How did it happen that you, a boy, a growing boy, doesn’t like chocolate — OR ice cream! I’ve never heard of that before! Sounds like you had a great birthday celebration – without the treats! Great to hear (and see the pictures) that you are all doing well there, happy, healthy, energetic, active, loving the life that God gave you. May God continue to watch over and keep you all.
