Bits and Bites….

Wow…  There’s been a lot going on here down under!  Just over a week ago we had torrential rains causing massive flooding all over town.  The city so helpfully put cement barriers in the middle of all roads with no flow holes…  There are ditches, but they don’t go anywhere.  Accross from our friends home is a Roman Catholic compound and they also, so very helpfully, built a cement wall along the main road without flow holes for water.  Ergo, our friends house had water approximately 20cm high go through.  So last Saturday was clean-up day.  Mikah and I headed down there to see what we could do to help.  What a mudbath!  However, there were others whose homes were washed away completely along with bridges and even the last ten feet of a private runway outside of town.  Our mountain also had some landslides, thankfully all up higher.

We were all healthy but now we’ve got some weird stuff going through our house.  Aidan came down with shingles last week.  Then Christiaan got ringworm and now Brynne appears to have chicken pox in spite of being vaccinated as a one-year old…  We’re hoping this is it for illnesses!

A good friend had to be medivaced to Australia last week which just highlighted again how precious our health is here.  The medical “system” here is so antiquated and rife with “professionals” who’ve purchased their papers.  We are very thankful for the expat nurses who so tirelessly help us however they can.
