Camping!

Last week we went camping for two nights with our friends A and L and their three girls.  For L and the girls, it was their first time ever camping.  We went to a beach that is located outside of the bay of Depapre, on the open ocean.  Last stop before Japan!  A beautiful spot for camping, it also has a great source of fresh water.  The weather was fabulous, although it rained both nights, particularly the second night, which is why one always uses tarps here.  The boys had their fill of playing with fire and dangerous chopping tools, and jumping off palm trees into the water.  Whenever they got a bit wild with the machete or ax, we’d put them away for a while, keeping in mind that we were out of cell phone range and a good half hour boat ride away from our vehicle.  Speaking of our vehicle, we managed to fit all of us and all of our stuff into it!  An amazing feat of engineering by Hugo…

    Dear Erica and family,
I like to tell you dat my wife Christie and I with a lot of pleasure read your posts. We admire permanantly the attached pictures with special attention: from 1961 we lived 1,5 year in Sentani near the airfield. Last week, July 4th, it was 53 years ago when Betty Green brought me in a PiperCup to Lereh. I flew several time with her and Dave Steiger.
