It’s been a while since I’ve posted… and, at the risk of sounding like a broken record (if you even know what those are…) the internet has not allowed me to post in over a month. Ugghh…
I will try to catch up on the news from our end of the world post by post as I’m able to post…
The beginning of July saw Mikah fly, by herself, down to the south coast to the city of Merauke. She participated in a youth camp that was being held there. There was only one other white family participating and their daughter, who is a year younger than Mikah, did not participate in all the events. So many times, Mikah was the only white person there. This was quite an experience for our introverted daughter. We are super proud of her for hanging in there and making the best of the situation. There were a few girls who made an effort to get to know her which was really nice. The afternoon activities were very fun and she really enjoyed participating in those. I only have a few photos at this time of her participating.
During that same week Christiaan and Aidan participated in a soccer/English camp for middle school kids put on by a local expat missionary with his wife and son. The idea was to have local kids and expat kids together. This also pushed the boys a bit out of their comfort zone and they ended up having a great time at the camp.
