Visitors and a visit to the river…

Sekolah Papua Harapan has a dorm which houses about 22 kids from 3 different villages interior.  A number of families have agreed to mentor two kids each.  That means that once a month we will have the same two dorm kids over to visit.  A week and a half ago we had our kids for the first time.  We have been given a grade one boy and a grade six girl.  As it turns out, the boy is one of my English class students and the girl I have known from encounters over the years as she’s been at the school for a while already.  He’s a creative little spitfire and she’s a very athletic, lovely girl.  We decided to go to the river with our friends who also had two dorm kids.  It’s such a great quiet spot to play.  Then we headed up to the MacArthur monument where there’s a great view of the city.

the river looks so awesome! What fun hosting some extra kids – I imagine your family enjoys having some extras?

Ditto to what Audrey says. How is the temperature of the water? When water is that colour here in BC, it’s often freezing cold glacial water – can’t imagine that’s the case where you are! The picture of the feet in crocs and your comment about ‘these little guys like hanging around the river…’ at first I thought you were referring to the bare toes, especially the ‘twins’ – #2 and #3 toes – they look the same size! After the pictures went by for a couple of rounds, I realized there was a gorgeous butterfly in the picture too!
