OE – Outdoor Education

Each year the entire high school goes interior for nearly two weeks.  The kids are divided into groups and are tasked with doing kids club, HIV/Aids presentations and other work projects.  Each group also takes a turn preparing a meal for everyone.  The village of Soba was the main village where everyone was based out of.  There they worked on the airstrip and made public bathrooms.  For three days half the groups went to one nearby village and when they returned the other half went to a different nearby village.  Mikah went to the village of Ninia.  Ninia is where parts of the book “Lords of the Earth” by Don Richardson take place.  Mikah’s group stayed in the home built by Stan Dale, who was martyred in a nearby valley by the Yali people.

It was a time of learning, bonding and growing.  Each day the kids were taught by the high school Bible teacher.  Mikah really enjoyed her time interior and came home full of stories and sand.

What an amazing time the kids must’ve had. Nice that you, Resident Photographer Erica, went too (at least I’m assuming you took the great shots!) I had to chuckle about Micah coming home “full of stories and sand.” We wish you God’s continued protection, also when you make your way to Holland and then to Canada on furlough.
