We are winding down our time here in Sentani before we leave on furlough. The elementary school put on their final concert of the year. Always nice to see the fruition of all the practicing the kids have done.
I’ve been in a weekly Bible study with a cool diverse group of ladies and we had our last meeting last week which we ended with a potluck lunch together. One of us is leaving the field so it was definitely bittersweet.
Last Saturday Christiaan graduated from grade 8. Traditionally the grade sevens organize the entire event. As I have a son in grade 7, I also helped with organizing. We first did photos just inside the entrance to the school. Then we all headed to the Multi purpose room where we enjoyed a dinner together followed by speeches from each set of parents and of course, the handing out of diplomas. We are super proud of Christiaan and the fine young man he is growing up to be.
In two sleeps we will be leaving for our furlough. It’s always a bittersweet time. We are excited to see family and friends in Canada/Holland, yet we are also sad about saying good-bye to friends/co-workers who are leaving for good.
We will go to Holland first and will have a open house with a small presentation on our time here. Details: 14 juni in de “Blikopener” GKV Enschede-oost. Wilhelminastraat 18 / Oldenzaalsestraat 75 Van ca. 13.00-17:00
Hope to see many of our Dutch family/friends there!
