Furlough!

A week ago we left for our furlough. Before we left we had some big good-byes to say as some folks are leaving Papua for good.  This is a reality of our life there but it doesn’t get any easier the more often you do it.  Each person touches your life in a different way.

As the plane stops in Bali anyways, we decided to take the opportunity to have a family vacation there.  We enjoyed swimming in the fabulous hotel pool, eating gigantic hamburgers, and just relaxing.  We had been feeling worn down before we left and it was good to have some time to just chill.

Then we began our long journey to Holland.  We flew to Singapore and from there to London and from there to Amsterdam where we were met by a group of Feunekes family members and a big sign.  So fun!  All our luggage arrived safe and sound even though it had been checked through from Bali all the way to Holland!  It has been so good to see our family here again (although we’ve not had the chance to see them all yet).

Have a wonderful stay in Holland, then a safe trip to Canada! God’s mercies and blessings on all your travels! (We ‘had tea’ with Erica’s Mom and Dad in Owen Sound last week — they’re looking forward to you coming, just so ya know!) Perhaps we’ll see you when you’re in BC.

Praying you all have safe travels and a really good time rejuvenating yourselves while on furlough.
