Life goes on…

Our lives as of late have been a blur of events and activities.  One of those events was a life-changing one.  Last month Hugo went to Kalimantan for a week to help their program with Avionics issues they needed resolved and dealt with.  While he was there, his father passed away after a more then a year long battle with lung cancer.  It was hard for us to be so far away but we are grateful that we were able to go to Holland in January and grateful for improved internet speeds which allowed us to video Skype with Hugo’s folks in the last few weeks.  Hugo flew from Kalimantan back to Papua where we were able to spend one day together as a family before Hugo and I flew to Holland.  It was comforting to be with family while we said our good-byes to Dad.  We loved him and will miss him but also thankful that his suffering was over and he is now with his Father in heaven.  The funeral was a beautiful comforting day.  It was really nice to see two of my aunts as well.  Our time with mom was a special gift that we won’t soon forget.

After being gone just over a week we returned home to Papua.  Our MAF team here had taken great care of our kids while we were gone.

Back in Easter we went to the river with our church for a picnic lunch.  It was quite busy there but we made the best of it and had fun together.  After returning home we enjoyed a gourmetten dinner together with friends.  Not a traditional Easter dinner but a yummy one none-the-less.

The end of this school year is quickly approaching and with that comes end of the year events.  Tonight was the elementary school concert.  Marc and Brynne and their school mates did a lovely job singing for us all.

Wonderful that you could spend precious time with Hugo’s Mom and the rest of the family as you laid Hugo’s Dad to rest. What a gift to treasure! (As well as the safe travels!) All the best as you experience and celebrate all the end-of-year events. (As always — GREAT photos!)
