Each “summer” we have a week long family conference. New Heights church in Vancouver, Washington, sends a team of people to help us out with our conference. The pastor teaches us and the team takes care of medical, VBS and youth group. It’s a great time and we are super thankful for this team and all they do to make our family conference amazing. This morning they arrived bright and early and we had a potluck breakfast to welcome them all here.
Then at 10:30 one of our newer pilots landed after completing his first solo flight here in Papua. He’s flown in another province here, but not Papua. Therefore he was eligible for the traditional dousing done to all first time soloists in province. However, there was an injured man aboard the aircraft so we had to wait for him to be put into the waiting ambulance (actually nicer and more equipped than others I’ve seen), before spraying the pilot. He got good and wet as everyone who had the opportunity to spray him, took it!
Such a great morning! So fun to honour the achievement of a new pilot and see first hand one of the ways we minister to the interior people here. And the team from America was on hand to witness it all as well!
